Dr. Girish Trivedi founder trustee of AIDS Combat International started working for the welfare of HIV/AIDS patients from the year 2000. ACI is a non political, non sectorial, non profit making organization working round the clock for HIV positive/AIDS patients in Mumbai, INDIA. ACI got registered in the year 2002 under the Bombay Public Trust Act. Reg: No: E -20263.

He knew there were many in urgent need of care and support and due to there socio-economic status they couldn't afford to go to the big hospitals. Even if they could support the treatment and pay money, due to discrimination and stigma they were afraid to go. Dr. Trivedi was aware of the fact that due to lack of awareness and discrimination these patients are going to die. With the strong support of his wife and trustee Mrs. Mamta Trivedi, they decided to adopt the "Home Based Care" system.Thus, AIDS Combat International was founded which specializes in the area of Home Based Care and provides the much needed medical care and support. Awareness camps are organized at regular intervals. ACI also focuses on women and children; it provides free ART therapy to children below the age of 15 years old. Through Home Based Care - ACI has been providing medical care and support to more than 400 families in the areas of Malad, Kandivali, Goregaon, Borivali and nearby places in Mumbai.

ACI (AIDS Combat International) is an NGO working for care and support to the HIV/AIDS infected and affected people. ACI has adopted Home Based Care as a means to work with HIV + people. Home based care includes, psychosocial and palliative care.  Home care draws on two strengths that exist through out the world; families and communities.  Families are the central focus of care and form the basis of the HCB team. Communities are places where people live and a source of support and care to individuals and families in need.

The aim of HBC is to provide hope through high quality and appropriate care that helps family caregivers and sick family members to maintain their independence and achieve the best possible quality of life. Hospital outreach of patient is relatively costly, often fail to mobilize community resources and do not place sufficient emphasis on counseling and social support.

AIDS COMBAT INTERNATIONAL is non political, non sartorial, non profit making organization working round the clock foe HIV/AIDS people in Mumbai INDIA. ACI got registered in the year 2002under the Bombay Public Trust Act. It is registered under section 80-G and FCR Act.

Mission: ACI is committed to provide care and support, education and advocacy in a non –discrimination manner to those who are infected with HIV/AIDS.

History
 HIV+ and AIDS patients were facing problems in getting treatment in hospitals.  Discrimination & social stigma was on a higher level (before 6-7 years) due to lot of misconception about the diseases.  ACI founder Dr. Girish Trivedi started attending these patients at clinic in Malad.  The clinic had the sign board HIV physician.  Generally patients were scared to enter the clinic as they thought it was only an HIV/AIDS clinic.  Due to social stigma Dr. Girish Trivedi adopted the concept of Home Base Care for treating these patients. He observed that patients were mainly from the slums and lower middle class society, so he thought to form an NGO to lend a helping hand to these unfortunate people.
